Thanks for telling us about the problem. Any achievement- big or small is an achievement and only Agnichlrakukal All Knowing knows how much effort an individual puts in achieving a particular goal.
DC Books-Online BookStore The least or say minimal personal touch is given to his life and the author keeps rambling about specific and detailed technicalities of rocketry. This is the story of Kalam’s rise from obscurity and his personal and professional struggles, as well as the story of Agni, Prithvi, Akash, Trishul and Nag-missiles that have become household names in India and that have raised the nation to the level of a missile power of international reckoning. I had high expectations as I admire Sir Kalam’s image. Its the story of the former President of India, the most loving President of India. But as for the stars the book talks in depth about Sir Abdul Kalam’s work and for some part where he has described in such detail about the engineering work that its too much to take in.
But then that is the way he is passionate about his work I guess! Go and take it in one shot.

But the writing style of the book is what failed to keep me hooked. The is amazing and will totally inspire you. Was a great contrast with “Rocket Men” in that the timeline in India follwed US development by a decade, had a much smaller scope than the Apollo program, and dealt with massive resource deprivations. I gave up at the last or the second chapter from the last. He meant every word of his thanks. Towards the end I kept on turning the page, reading on with a goal to finish a book that I started but I felt disconnect from the proceedings. The real gem of book lies in excerpts of poems which have agnichidakukal aptly compiled and written upto.
This is a disappointment as his perspective would have been very interesting to hear. Kalam maintains a spiritual base as he heads the mainly military and nationalistic projects therein. How much hard work have been put to make this happen. This is also the saga of independent India’s struggle for technological self-sufficiency and defensive autonomy-a story as much about politics, domestic and international, as it is about science.
But apart for that a book worth reading. I got to know more about the technical details of rockets and missiles. A very inspirational reading. The book is truly inspirational.

Its the one, one never miss to read. Open Preview See a Problem? However, he couldn’t be blamed as did his best as he could. However, the book accounts the days he’d lived till late 90s that is upto his days in Missile Development programmes. A bit difficult if one is not interested in the technicalities of rocketry but totally worth reading about India’s Missile Man.

I absolutely loved the book. This autobiographical account gets a bit technical due to in-depth explanation of rocketry, miss This book agnichirakuial a must read for every Indian to know one of the greatest men of our country. But it was a disappointment. Loyalty to different rulers has dulled our capacity for single allegiance. While Sir Kalam has defined those terms where ever possible, the style in which he has described them didn’t make sense to someone like me who has not first hand knowledge of the term. The emotions of despair, disappointment, and ecstasy of achievements came forth very well in the book.
